Door Pictures

I had no idea when I welded the door frames to the fuselage that I would need a bushing welded into the fuselage tubes for door latches typical of Piper PA12 and 14 designs.  Many doors have a plunger that goes through the door frame and into a bushing in one of the tubes.  Where, not sure; it depends on your door design.    Be aware of the door design you are going to use so, if necessary, you can weld in a bushing before welding the door frame to the fuselage.  Below are some door pictures to give you an idea of the plunger set up that needs a bushing.

Below is the hole for the above plunger to go into.  This is where the bushing is needed before welding the sheet metal for the door frame.  Location will take some planning if this is the direction you will be going.  If no bushing, a latch like I am using will work just fine.  The plunger is lighter and less material on the surface of the door. My design for the door latch is in the January 16, 2018 post.
